I just picked up my Tiger with a new Garmin stack. Eliminated the vacuum system completely, but I just couldn’t get by without one round dial left over!!! This pic shows the new number, but right now I still operate with N28546. Work was done by Santa Fe Aero Services.

I assume the little horizon is the autopilot annunciator, but what autopilot?
BTW: fantastic high res pic of the panel - just can't read annunciator brand name anywhere.

The little horizon is a "Sam" by Mid-Continent Instruments. It is strictly a backup instrument in case of loss of the G500, as it has it's own battery. The reason I had to keep the turn coordinator is because when I get an autopilot installed it will need to go in that hole and uses the turn coordinator data. As of now I have no autopilot installed. Maybe next year after my bank account recovers a bit!! Thank you for the compliments.

Thanks for identifying "Sam". At 10 Gs a pop, not exactly for the faint of heart, but what a fantastic bit of kit for someone serious about avioncs and backup!!!

I would question this thesis of an interface problem between G/500 and STEC as the article is from a pro Aspen view.

Here is another Tiger equipped with a G-500 AND interfaced with an STEC 30 that I understand work quite well together.
Also has an MT Prop
Makes me drool;)

WOW, that is another stunning display of neat hardware. This time with the full blown 930 instead of 900, but the SAM trumps the lot for going all of the way.
I did go back and read the AC article more carefully, and it does indeed have a definite bias, but I believe based on the cost/benefit to those who might not have the full set of Garmin radio gear to run a G500.
The autopilot deal is not that it won't communicate, but that it can not be in full command of the servos without retaining the autopilot's gyro reference system instead of direct output from the G500 AHRS. The 1000 won't do that either (but IIRC WILL with Century). Also, I think the G500 needs a card to send to STec autopilot???
