Pulsar Friends,
I just finished the rework of my nose wheel. All of the discussion at the Pulsar reunion, how to strengthen the nose wheel design, I was on a mission to improve mine. It wasn't hard. all you need is the 2-1/2" of the 5/8" ID pipe (4160 steel), a 6" hex bolt (preferrably grade 5), and a nex nut that fits the bolt, and somebody experienced and trustworthy shop to cut the nose gear, grind it to fit the pipe, and weld the pipe to the nose gear.
Attached is a picture of my result.
I have 7" of 4160 5/8" ID pipe left over from my order from Aircraft Spruce to do the job. If anybody would like to buy the leftover $18 pipe purchase, I would entertain selling. I have found that cut the pipe to exactly 2-1/2" the 6" 5/8" hex bolt works idealy, and one additional washer at the castle nut. The threaded end of the 5/8 6" bolt needs to be cut down a bit and needs to be drilled for the castle nut and cottle pin. I can also provide a new set of belleville washers.
Fly safe,
Ronko
