Please would someone sell me a simple balance ball of the slimline horizontal type i.e. not the type in a round housing designed to fit into a 2.25 inch hole in the instrument panel.
The type I need is made by Rieker Phila and has P/N 10-00700 or S/N 115907 in the Aircraft Spruce listings. No hole is needed to be cut into the panel and it just screws on to the panel surface.
I'm trying to avoid paying the $85-ish £65-ish for something that I really don't need at such a price. After all, my EFIS has a balance ball as part of its display and so the mechanical one is just a back-up.
Please help. Many thanks, Jonathan.

Jonathan,

Wouldn’t ACS P/N 10-00600 (at) $59.80 (£38.52) do as well for a more reasonable cost?

Thanks for the suggestion Bob, although the part priced at $59.90 in the Aircraft Spruce catalogue is P/N 10-00700. I've no doubt that after adding shipping and UK import taxes and duties, the price landed at my door will be almost double that.

So anybody out there within the UK, please point me towards a surface-mounted balance ball of the narrow horizontal type. Thanks.

Jonathan,

Look at a marine store for a clinometer that is used to measure angle of heel in a sailboat. They run about $15 US.

Or in camping trailers (caravans) there usually is a level like you want to adjust the camper to the pitch of the campsite. They also are about $15 US.

I assuming that you don't need a "certified" slip skid balance ball.

Here's a link to a marine supplier in the US :

Hope this helps.
