This topic may have been covered before so bear with me. I'm looking for suggestions for a tow bar for an RV-7A. Just getting a little too hard to maneuver in and out of the hangar for this old back.

Are there any companies that make them.

All help appreciated in advance.

Thanks.

Henry-

Back in the RV heyday, Ken Barto made some good light carry-onboard ones. Check in the RV Builders' Yeller Pages to get his contact info. Others found that some in Aircraft Spruce's offerings worked well for them with small mods.

I got the “Big Bogi Bar (04M-BBU-F750x2875) with the clevis end so I can use the lawn tractor to tow the planes. It works on the RV-10 and RV-6A/7A/8A/9A.
http://bogertaviation.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=garden_flypage.tpl&product_id=138&category_id=3&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=23

While I have used a tractor to towed both an RV-10 and an 8A with it, 90% of the time I just hand move the plane by hand. The bar provides for very steady footing. This is a not something to carry with you in the plane.

Bobby,
Great, I have the tow bar and been very happy with it for 3 years, but didn't know about the "pins", thanks for sharing that. I've been using longer bolts with a couple nuts for use as the spacer.

Henry]I too have an RV-7A - took my wife and me 6.5 years to built it - wife did the rivetting - she got to be an artist with an Avery 3X rivetting gun - been flying it for 4+ years - have 441 hours on it -
Re a tow bar - I got mine from ACS - part # 13-01540 - current cost is $53.95, weighs 3.75 lbs, is 45.5" extended and 26" collapsed - was designed for larger Cessnas like the 182 and 210 - have travelled with it - just remember you'll have to cut holes on both sides of the nose wheel pant - works great
