If you fly In France with a yak52 Golf Registred you should have a permit to fly fro the dgac .
If you didn't have trouble it is just because the Gendarmerie is not aware about that!
In an other hand, if you crash In France (i don't expect it of course !!!) I am very sure that your insurer will remember this lack to you!

You are absolutely right when you write :

BUT ... for example, some German/Belgian/French/Dutch/Swiss/Italian/British/Spanish/Italian/Polish pilots
have their Yaks registered in Lithuania (LY -xxx), Poland (SP-xxx), England (G-xxxx), Spain (EC-xxx),
France (F-AZxx or F-WR ... F-HRxx), Dutch (PH-xxx) ... or even San Marino ... ! (T7-xxx) ... !!!

They are not allowed to fly freely everywhere in Europe ...
And that's a real shame !!
Airworthiness of EASA Annex II (= NON EASA aircraft !!) are controlled on a national basis and ... in an ideal world ...
would logically be recognised by other EASA members of course !
Not obvious at the moment I'm afraid ...
Wouldn'it be nice if ALL European National Aviation Authorities (EASA)
agreed on common standards to maintain and operate Yaks (and other flying machines) in Europe !!

Isn’t it FINALLY about time all European National Aviation Authorities agreed on common standards
to maintain and operate Yaks in Europe
Is it too much to ask ?
Maybe one day ... one never knows ...
In the meantime I will continue to fly my UK CAA registered Yak-52 (G-CBSS) everywhere in Europe
because the UK CAA were the first European NAA to establish very strict maintenance requirements
and that these comply with the requirements of the Yakovlev Design Bureau (YDB) regarding Airframe, Powerplant, etc ...

My Yak-52 is based in Belgium but I regularly fly in France with no problem with the French CAA (DGAC).
I have even been controlled by the French 'Air Police' BGTA (Brigade de Gendarmerie Transport Aérien) and they were happy with everything ...
But now we are planning to buy a French Registered Yak-50 ...
Will I be able to fly in the UK ?
We'll see.

to apply for a 'French' Permit to Fly ? Ta.
How much will I have to pay the French Bureaucrat for his piece of paper
and his 'hard work' ?
How long is it valid for ?
i.e. how long before I have to pay another Bureaucrat for a 'new' useless piece of paper ?
That was actually exactly my point :
It would be really nice to have COMMON EUROPEAN STANDARDS
(maintenance requirements) regarding Yaks in Europe.
Then once a 'Permit to Fly' has been issued by a particular National Aviation Authority,
it would be recognised and accepted by all other European NAAs.
WITHOUT additional Fees and Paperwork !
Maybe be one day ... Yaks in Europe will be free from Red Tape ...

Like I wrote before, the UK CAA was the first European NAA to establish very strict maintenance requirements
in compliance with the prescriptions of the Manufacturer of these aircraft, the Yakovlev Design Bureau (YDB)
regarding Airframe, Powerplant, etc ...
(That's also why a lot of Pilots based in Continental Europe bought their Yaks in the UK ...
before switching to various exotic foreign register (San Marino T7, Polish SP...)
or mainly the illegal FLA register (RA-xxxx then RA-xxxxK !) ...
At least, they were starting with a very sound and properly maintained aircraft.
Later, ALL other European NAAs started to play catch up when they realised that most of the Yaks in their countries
were flying with illegal documents (Illegal Certificate of Airworthiness, illegal Pilot licence,
non-compliance with the Yakovlevs maintenance directives, etc ... )
Humm Olivier ... you are telling me that I had no problem when the French 'Gendarmerie des Airs' (BGTA)
investigating my aircraft paperwork in France because they don't know the rules ...

There were a couple of fatal Yaks accidents in France.

Would it not be easier if the French CAA was happy with your Lithuanian Permit to Fly
