Afternoon Everyone:
We are at a point on our restoration efforts of an L-29 to weight it and calculate the CG.
I have a major problem, I can not find in any of my manuals a CG chart or datum.
Any advise or info would be very appreciated.
Regards,
Dennis Mitchell

Dear Mr. Jean de Roubin
Thank you very much for the diagram, my French is very lacking but with the Internet I can translate what I need very easily and solve the mystery.
I really appreciate you taking the time to post this information for me.
Respectfully,
Dennis

Everyone can get a free copy of the manuals via;
http://www.l-29.org/6.html
Thanks to there efforts to support the L-29 group.
BUT, if your offering a better quality English version of the manuals in a .PDF format or paper I'm interested.
My Engine manual (M701) is very difficult to read.

If you means weight in the nose, typically nothing. Maybe, if the IFF in out, same weight as the IFF.
I have a air compressor at place of IFF on my L29, so it have the same weight, plus or minus.

What have you removed from the airplane? I removed 400+ pounds of junk so I added 103 pounds in the nose.

Exactly, I too have 103lbs in the nose. My empty weight is 5193. How does that compare? On Jan 16, 2014 5:46 PM, "Bill Geipel" <l129bs(at)gmail.com (l129bs(at)gmail.com)> wrote:[quote] --> L29-List message posted by: Bill Geipel <l129bs(at)gmail.com (l129bs(at)gmail.com)>

There are some weights in the tail too isn't there Bill?
BTW, have you had your tail section off lately?

All radios and nav (radiocompass) were removed. Modern ones instead. As most is in the middle, it does not affect much center of gravity. As I have an air compressor in the nose right, place of IFF, my plane was weighted and is well balanced without any weight in the nose or in the the tail.
My empty weight is 5193 lbs with 28,85 % MAC.
Center of gravity should be beetween 20,5% and 25,5% MAC in flight (flight manual 5.
It flies like this from many years and goes out of stalls and spins without any problems.

17 pounds in the tail. Steel plates.
Actually haven't even seen my jet since July and then only in passing.
Hang in there.

It does. Before I put the viper in, I removed 453 pounds and put in the 105 of weight in the nose.
The viper weights the same but sits about 15" aft of the 501. But since I've gained weight in my old age it still flys nice.
