I took ownership of Europa Tri-Gear Kit 630 from Steve Vestuti this Saturday and transported it from South Wales to the North West without mishap! (Longest 7 hours of my life). Does everyone get that holy sh** moment when they realise what they have done or is it just me!
Alan.

Hi Alan, Don't worry we all got that sinking feeling having spent a lot of
money and not got a plane only the promise of one. My only comment and
suggestion would be to join the Europa club ASAP, they are a very friendly
and helpful lot, me included. You will always find someone who has
experience with what ever you are having trouble with and will help you or
point you in the right direction.
Get a good inspector on side preferably with Europa experience. If there is
still quite a lot of glass work to do, have a practice by making the wheel
chocks as per the manual, don't worry if you get it wrong you can in most
cases re do it and, enjoy the build process.
I can say its a very special feeling to complete and fly your own aircraft.
As to how long it will take to complete, that will depend on you, I bought
my kit in a part finished state and pretty well went back to start again
with a new cockpit module. Mine took just over 7 years to complete including
4 years out with various Cancers and the help of two rather special friends
who came on board to help when things looked rather bleak.
Good luck.

Alan,
Welcome to the Europa Community! Git’r organized and git’r done!
Yes, driving back from Europa/Florida after having placed the order for my kit I had the same “Holy $#!^, what have I done?” moment. Then, several months later driving a rental truck full of Europa kit #242 I had exactly the same "HS,WHID?” moment.
Now, you just need to get into the shop every day and do something on the kit. Accomplish something every day. Take pictures of your work every day and make sure you can do an entry into your build diary every day. Then, one day, it will come back from the paint shop ready to fly and you’ll get to say “Holy $#!^, I’ve actually done it!” And you get to start enjoying the real fruits of your labor; flying with all those other great Europa folks all over the UK and continent.
Blue skies & tailwinds,
Bob Borger

Alan,
Your comments took me back 19 years, when I received my big box in Germany,
It took only 2 1/2 years to build, but you must do as Bob said and do something every day. Every hour you spend in the workshop is an hour earlier to fly.
There will be frustrations, but just go on to something else and come back to the problem later.
Some days I still get out of the plane and give the cowling a big kiss!!

Hi Alan
Welcome to the Europa community, I had exactly the same feeling when I picked up my part built kit. (Wings were completed but not closed over)
1&1/2 years later and I'm now at the stage where the fuselage is going to be painted in the next couple of weeks and hopefully be ready for test flying end of March beginning of April.
There is lots of valuable information, help and resources on this forum and the europa club, europa owners websites to help and assist you when building.
I am located on west coast of scotland (Oban) where are you located?
Kind regards
Donald

Thanks you for all the messages of support, it is good to know I am not alone. To answer some of the questions posed
I turn 50 this year, live in Lytham St Anne’s Lancashire and have worked Saudi Arabia for BAE Systems for the last 25 years. However, I'm looking to return to the UK ASAP, job permitting, so I can concentrate on my build. If that doesn’t happen I will still have at least 60 -90 days per year solid build time and I've planned the activities I can do while I'm not home. I've estimated it will take me 5 years and budgeted and additional £25-30K to complete. I don’t know if this timescale or budget is realistic but I will have to see how it goes.
Let the adventure begin!
