Oil Thermostat

I'm considering fitting the Oil thermostat supplyed by Conair in the UK (Approved LAA Mod) My Question is. After removing my cowl and considering the best location to mount the thermostat, Does anyone have any pictures of a suggested location. As the thermostat is quite large with the hose connections fitted to it.

Thank you in advance

Hi Richard

I have recently fitted the oil thermostat as part if my build. I have mounted mine on the starboard footwell as per the photo. Im not sure if this picture is off the thermostat in its final position as I had to move it up from its first location, so that it didn't kink the oil hose going to the oil cooler.

I will be going to the aircraft shortly to do some other bits, so can take more photos for you if you want?

Kind regards
Donald

Donald,
That looks like a good position. I can see that you may have had to re-fit the Stat higher as joining to the cooler would ba a problem. I would be interested in some more pictures of your final installationn to the cooler without kinking the pipes and allowing slow bends.

Regards
Richard Wheelwright

Hi Richard

It seemed the best location to me at the time off installation.

I had also considered putting it on the side of the starboard footwell, however as I have incorporated the cabin heater mod my cabin air inlet is on the side so space is limited.

I'm at the aircraft at the moment so will drop the from lower cowl before i finish tonight and take a few more photos for you.

Kind regards
Donald

Here are a few pictures of the top of the engine with the mounting location. We will provide thy thermostasis units as well as the 4 required hoses and the 4 AN fittings for the thermostasis unit.

All fittings on the hoses are stainless steel. In addition all hoses are conductive Teflon and are pressure tested and fire sleeved.

We are finalizing details of the install kit now.

Have a great week
