Hi Steve here again. Anyone know what fabric and how long it lasts on the tail feathers of a 1992 Yak55m. It wont be cotten built in 1992 will it ?
Still on original paint which I think is dope. Been hangered all her life and outwardly looks pretty good and passes the maul test at 56 lbs.

Hi George.
Yes we think it's linen. It's still in very good condition. Stitching is sound also. Inside is like new clean as a whistle no corrosion at all. Maybe they do better work in Moscow than Romania ?

There is nothing wrong with linen fabric as long as it is well maintained. It is moisture and sunlight that kills it. I recently saw an Aeronca with original fabric from 1955 that was still serviceable. It was stored inside in the desert south west.
We do have some copies of the Yak55M manual. They are $15.00.
