Possibly my last video of the season. Even I get bored with them. The main change is the picture quality, and there are more photos than flying.

I had not been down to the River this year, and even though this is the only time of the year when I don't have the area to myself, The weather was cooperating, so no excuse not to go. I am using a 503 on the plane at this time, and it uses a bit more fuel than the HKS, so I took four gallons with me. The weather site assured me that if I started early I would have a tail wind both ways. Sure, most likely a head wind both ways. They say that "paranoia is merely an heightened sense of reality". It pays when flying here. Sure enough there was a headwind that had a pretty bumpy layer, so I climbed up about 1500 feet. I still had a head wind, but it was smooth.

There were a couple of campers down on the River, but for the most part I still had it to myself. The River is very low this year. I landed in one of the large empty smooth areas and refueled.

The flight was 2 hours and 18 minutes. I found a quiet layer of air at about 2000 feet AGL, and made my way back home.

Brother Cottrell…

As usual, ya done real good….  Your new camera arrangement appears solid… the final editing results are very enjoyable indeed.

For some reason, I find watching your videos, wandering down high desert canyons and in low-level pursuit of the mighty Owyhee catfish, to be mesmerizing…   Gotta be a combination of Oregon topography, the narrator’s dulcet tones and the slick Latin guitar work.

As a result of your efforts, if able to get the Nazi 447-powered Fly started, Beauford is now motivated to go forth and seek out a baffled
Hereford  steer in the middle of one of the local totally flat, featureless, sod farms and make low passes until an irate cattleman or the local county authorities show up and subdue him. If no Herefords can be spotted, might have to settle for an Armadillo…. could be hard to
pick out from the air.

I’ll tell ‘em you pushed me to it…

Thankee fer all the great videos, sir… You enliven the List.

Worth what ye paid fer it…

The HKS  is sitting on a shelf, waiting for a different muffler system. I recently took possession of 503 with three blade IVO, oil injection, and a BRS chute. If I use the chute, I have no place to put the current muffler which was sitting on the root tube.

The 503 runs well, starts easy, but uses a bit too much gas for me, so If anyone is wanting a 503, I will make them a deal for the whole works, minus the BRS.
