I have been struggling with carburetors since the begining, two years ago and have finally got it working as it should. I have learned a lot in this during this time and wanted to share it with you.

The link goes to a Google Docs file with pictures and such and won't display here. Feel free to comment here.
The gist of the article is this, I didn't know what I didn't know and now I do.
I was floundering and really did not know that 1400+ EGT's were too high, 5.5 GPH is too low at full rich full throttle.

Today I was flying at 3000' and engine was leaned out to about 1350-1380 EGT at 2800 RPM. I pushed the throttle full and watched the EGT's go down to1200 without moving anything but the throttle. OAT was 67F and all the other temps were in the green, CHT 280-300, OT 220-230. I think things are looking pretty good now that the engine is getting enough fuel.

Hello Ron:
The EGT temps are good and the drop is what is to expected due to higher fuel flow. BUT! The Oil Temps are a bit high. I would like to see them less than 200F. How is your oil cooler - Is it big enough? Is it in a good FORCED air flow? If you have a real good cooling the temps should be around 180F.

What temps do you normally see on your Corvair, Barry?
