I've seen a handful of folks mounting the GMU 44 in various places such as inside the tailcone, in the lightening holes on the aft tailcone cover, and even in wingtips.

I was thinking of installing it in the left wing, but the pitot heat could cause trouble with that much current being in the vicinity.  .

So I thought about the right wing tip, but the TruTrak AP servo is in that one and I just found that the manual suggest 10ft separation from the servo motor.

So, now I'm kinda stuck.  Where is everyone putting them and what results are you seeing?  Photo's would be helpful too.

Thanks,
Phil

Mine is in the wing tip about 4-5' from the pitot heat. It passes the EMI test just fine.
Biggest issue I came across was EMI from the wing tip landing light causing interference. Changed two twisted shielded pair for power wires to the lights. No issue anymore.
(I need to return your control sticks someday soon)

Mine is mounted to the bulkhead behind the battery mount. Sorry, but I do not have access to the manual. It's on a shelf at the top of the bulkhead. I believe that's where most are mounting it.

We did a wingtip installation on an -8.  As above, it required a twisted shielded pair for the landing lights but otherwise no issues.

One thing to avoid is any coiling in the wires near the magnetometer. The 8 Dave refers to failed the EMI test miserably the first time with the wing tip lights on. We pulled the wing tip and found a coil in the shielded twisted pair. We made some adjustments and got rid of the coil, no problems.
