Of the 3 fuel senders I have and don't work when installed, they all have floats that won't float in fuel.
I installed 2 overhauled sending units in a Traveler a couple of years ago and they don't work either.  I suspect the floats don't float on those either.
Any suggestions?
Gary

Install sight gauges? Very Happy
Make your own floats? Very Happy
Go back to the brass floats .... drill a hole and fill with foam. JB weld over the hole.
Oh, wait, you can only do that on experimentals.
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Linn
PS Are the floats the white nylon? Which floats are they???

I found a set of flouts a number of years ago that work at West Marine. (Boat parts) Stuck them on there and they worked fine. Did not figure the FAA was gonna take my senders out to see if thay were PMAed. They looked just like the ones I took off. I think I paid 5 bucks for the pair.

As if Garner hasn’t got enough to do.

For my part I’ll contact the two customers I have supplied O/H Airpart’s senders to within the last two weeks and ask if their’s are showing correct readings. If so assume they must be floating.

I remember them being round, almost a duplicate of the stock ones. I believe the whole sender was available but the bolt pattern was different.7

Install sight gauges? Very Happy Make your own floats? Very Happy Go back to the brass floats .... drill a hole and fill with foam.  JB weld over the hole. Oh, wait, you can only do that on experimentals. Sorry, I couldn't resist. Linn PS Are the floats the white nylon? Which floats are they??? On 8/23/2014 6:05 PM, Gary L Vogt wrote:

Of the 3 fuel senders I have and don't work when installed, they all have floats that won't float in fuel.

I installed 2 overhauled sending units in a Traveler a couple of years ago and they don't work either. I suspect the floats don't float on those either.

Any suggestions?

Gary
