Hi folks,
on the CH601 HDS - when are your folks changing the bungees on the mains? How far do the stop plates on the top of the wing stick out?
Thanks

Hi;
If you see a significant change in the height that the top plates stick
up above the skin, inspect the bungees carefully. In my case,in 12
years, I have only had to replace 1 of the bungees on each side. The
others were fine and still are.
The trike drivers will have to replace the nose gear bungee much more
frequently. Ho! Ho!

Thilo,
On my Annual Inspection process sheets dated May 2005, the gap between
cap and the nose gear was 7/16" and the gap for the mains was 3/16-inch.
I note that this past inspection finds the nose gear about the same with
the mains at 1/4-inch one year later. You have to bounce the weight of
the aircraft
manually several times to get the max reading. Don't think I'm
replacing the bungees for several more years. The gear has supported
the plane since June
of 2003, flown in 2004. The conditions noted for gaps at the caps are
no fuel, passengers or other gear in the plane. It's at its empty
weight of 730 lbs.
I'd consider changing bungees if the gap increased by as much as half an
inch over time. Because you have two on each main, it probably wouldn't
be a major
problem getting the plane back in the hangar for replacement of the bungee.
Good luck,

They don't at all, they are actually slightly below the skin as they tighten up.
