My wife wants a Gopro for when she goes horseback riding, so I figured I can use it too in the CJ. My question is which would be better? I currently already use Garmin Pilot in my cockpit so I can control the VIRB from my IPAD. I just don't know anything about these things.
Thanks
Ernie

You can control the camera and live feed to an iPad with the newer version of the Gopro. Friend of mine does it all the time. It was a recent upgrade to the Gopro hardware. Pretty cool and just what Gopro needed.

Controlling the gopro with your iOS device seriously affects the battery life of the GoPro, FYI. I'm sure that's true for other cameras also.
You can buy extended life batteries, though.

GoPro Hero 3 - controlled via Android lasts several hours. Lots of footage to go through.

I guess no one has used the VIRB. The features I like on the VIRB are the Ant+ functionality, which allows it to interface with other devices, built in GPS, G-Meter, and Altimeter, which can be then be overlaid with google maps, and controlled from my Garmin Pilot App.
The GoPro is lighter, has better resolution and pic quality, and a lot of mounting options.
I'm still torn.

Check out the Drift Ghost HD. One of my Pitts friends has one and it is very impressive.

JVC ACTION CAMERA GC-XA1BU works very well also. Is compact like the Drift ( looks similar). Is waterproof to 5 m. Gyro stabilized and mounts easily in tight spots.
