Whilst fitting out the interior I'm having real problems holding fixtures in place (whilst resin goes off) with any kind of 'tape'.Whether its masking tape, duct tape, or plastic insulating tape, it just wants to peel off the fuselage interior. Anyone else had this problem? Obviously I'm cleaning the surfaces with acetone before 'glueing' but the surfaces appear to have a 'greasy feel? Any ideas please. Thanx in anticipation. Paul Munford. Paul,
A common problem. Wash the interior with TSP or strong dish soap and water to get the release agent off. Then use the Acetone/Denatured Alcohol. Sand and you will see the dust fly. Same problem on the motor glider wings. The release agent is a very good wax and over that is the plastic for the vacuum bagging.
We stick our channels for wires or whatever with superglue and the quick set spray. Our local building stores have Gorilla Glue thin and gel in nice sized bottles at reasonable prices. The accelerator spray for instant setting of the glue to lock the channel in place quick is purchased from a hobby store like Hobby Lobby.
Use flox/redux on most of the part and only use the superglue in areas you have left free of any glue as tack points. Works on antennas and everything.
Tape on an epoxied part is a mess to clean up. Never Use Superglue on the Plexiglass!
For some areas we just drill a hole and use a cleco to hold parts in. Just another hole to fill.
Best Regards,
Bud Yerly

Paul, and beware - the release agent is especially good at
provoking immune reactions, which can be very serious. Do
make sure that you wash it all off meticulously rather
than sand it off, which will inevitably get into lungs,
eyes, etc. regards, David Joyce, G-XSDJ
