Hello,
I've been told that The UK CAA will not give agreement to maintain the huosai engine"on condition "
"clarification form CAA regarding the allowed engine life for the Huosai-6JlA.
It will NOT allowed to use GR24 to extend the engine operating life"
that mean that engine will need to be overhauled at 600h since last overhaul.
there is only 5 CJ6 on the UK registry, what can we do to find a convenient solution?
Bruno

I am afraid that you have no option but to have the engine overhauled at 600
hours, as is the case with Sukhoi and Yak owners throughout Europe. You
might get a 10% extension if the engine is running well.

In passing, I'm not trying to generate business for ourselves, since we do
not overhaul the Chinese HS6 engine, although plan to in the future!

Hi Richard,
I think the best could be an agreement to replace it by M14, but no UK CJ6 have one... despite numerous (almost all) in US.

Bruno

Are you already past the 600 TBO?

Aside from the costs of the mp14 you will have to factor in other required parts and approval to convert to this setup.

Another route would be to make an inquiry directly with a parts supplier in China. I believe you can purchase overhauled engines (or seek one with plenty of time remaining) but check the certification carefully.

Would be interested to hear the costs they quote you
Try the contact in this link.

Bruno

Who has told you that you cannot continue to run the engine 'on condition' i.e in line with CAP 747 GR No. 24?

This document (unless now replaced with something else, and if so please provide the new doc) states that for aircraft not used for the purpose of Public Transport (i.e private flight) engines may continue in service indefinitely subject to compliance with certain conditions as listed in appendix 1.

Hi Harv,
here is what i received from my workshop:
We've received clarification form CAA regarding the allowed engine life for the Huosai-6JlA.
We are NOT allowed to use GR24 to extend the engine operating life.
