I made an adapter to fit in the end of the spring with an oring. Used a bottle with over 1500lbs. 38lbs was measured on a bathroom scale pushing the spring down on it. 60lbs after filling.
If you check into adjustable ones they are filled to a max pressure and then you let out the amount of pressure to meet your strength requirements.
The basic formula for the strength is psi times area of piston in sq inches. There are some other variables but they don't make enough difference to matter here. So the piston is around .05sq in times 1400 equals 70lbs. I didn't have the ability to measure the pressure exactly so it could have been more like 1300psi.

Hi Dean, where did you get yours refilled. I couldn't find anyone to do it and ended up buying new ones. - Paul

Hi Many Thanks.
So they come with 200lbs in them, and you just let the pressure out until it feels right. If you get it wrong.
Can you re pressurize say using an adaptor and foot pump maybe get up to 70 psi, the units pressure screw would need to be the sort that allows
air in and seals and locks. as well as letting air out.

You can have them re-pressurised by the original supplier, Industrial Gas
Spring Ltd, 22 Wates Way, Mitcham, Surrey. CR4 4HR. Contact James Godbold
Tel 02086466594 email james(at)igsltd.co.uk.
Mine were done in 2 weeks for very little cost but delivery was expensive,
as you are closer you could consider picking them up after. They were
recharged to 190N and are fine. By the way they are not pressurised with air
but nitrogen.

Hi Richard.
I will give them a call on Monday, if they could be done while I Waite, I could drive up there.
Nitrogen,
Well can you purchase Nitrogen in about the same size as a aerosol paint spray so as to top up these adjustable gas struts,??

Alan,
They probably won't do it while you wait. I tried that when I had ours done and they said it was impossible.
