|

I just bought an older 1991: twin star. It has the single center stick controls and I am wanting to put in a set of dual controls. Has anyone got experience doing this or do they make a kit to convert it. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Guideman -
Consider flying it for a while with the single center stick before installing dual sticks. You might like it.
I have flown both varieties of Mark-III, and I much prefer the single stick configuration. The center stick falls very naturally and comfortably to hand, when sitting in the left seat. Also, the center stick is taller, giving more leverage and thus, less force needed to move the controls.
I've seen more than one post on this Kolb List from folks who went from single to dual sticks, and regretted the decision. Choice of control stick configuration is very subjective - some like it dual, others prefer center-single. But at least give it a try first.

Thanks for any and all input. I may try it for a while. The main reason I was going to dual sticks was for training. I have not flown the Kolb and have an instructor that is.going to give me some transition lessons in my Kolb. I have been flying a Star Flight for some time now but never a tail dragged. Everyone tells me that they are not like your run of the mill tail dragger but better safe than sorry. I have to feel very comfortable in flying it with an instructor before flying solo. Thanks again , I'll let everyone know how it goes.
