Good morning Guys,

I need to know the steel alloy wich the propeller hub is made of,
I'm doing an ovrhaul on the Yak52 propeller, the company that is performing cadpalting have to bake the component and decide the correct timining to eliminate the component britle factor due to the nitrogen formation.
Any idea or suggestion regarding this subject??

Thank you

My father was the chief foreman at EAL platting shop at MIA for 15+ years. He cad plated my control sticks and linkage on the Pitts S1C I built. I can't remember the exact numbers but 345F for several hours comes to mind. Since this was enbrittlement for thin wall tubing and parts, not really (to me any way) a big concern with the mass of prop hub.  With EPA the way it is today, this process will most likely cost you a good penny or two. While cad plating will definitely keep corrosion away indefinitely, a cheaper way maybe just a good cleansing/etching and a couple coats of a 2 part high grade epoxy paint. The interior of the hub needs to keep its dimensional tolerances and cad plating will throw those off. Those areas would need to be waxed coated to prevent cad build-up. A more complicated process than masking tape.

Lets us know how that works out.

Thank you for the answer and suggestions.
I understand the problems relating to cadplating and having considered the epoxy paint as an alternative solution I'll go for it.
