Cal,

If you don't find any, I bought new Douglas wheels and had McBeans at
Kitfox weld the brake disc attachment lugs onto the wheels. Not cheap.

Thanks BJ,
Any chance you would have the part # for the Douglas wheels? And did you get alum. or steel. I can weld my own lugs on steel but not alum. but not too hard to find someone who can.

I don;t have part number at hand. I will go to plane today and see if
there is a PN on one of the wheels. If so I'll e-mail you back. I'm pretty
sure I left a Douglas decal on the wheels but doubt it has a PN. I might
have written PN in logs. I'll check that too but not likely.

They are aluminum.

I think I went on the Douglas Wheel web site and matched the wheels using
dimensions from the original wheels and crossed that over to web site
data. It was quite some time ago and memory is lost on that.

I vaguely seem to recall that the bolt hole pattern was an issue but not
how I worked that out. My original wheels have a three hole pattern.

More after i go to my "Baby Plane".

It would be easier (cheaper) to get them from someone who has them sitting
around collecting dust, so keep asking around.

You got me energized so I went to Baby Plane. There is a decal on the
wheels. DWT 6061 [160]

DWT is Douglas Wheel & Tires logo/web site look up. 6061 is the type of
aluminum. 160 is probably the wheel PN identifier and key number if you
call DWT for the specs.

Just to make sure we are talking about apples and apples. My early Kitfox
IV 1050 came with 20 x 7 - 8 bald "Chen Seng" tires on three lug DWT
aluminum wheels.

Hope this helps.

Cal, This is just a coincidence. I ran across suggestions from Bill Mapass
for welding the tabs onto the inner edge of a Douglas Kitfox wheel in the
proper position.

This is not an exact quote - "Bolt the new tabs material to a brake rotor,
this establishes the tabs in the proper pattern in three dimensions. let
the welded cut the tabs off of the adjacent metal stock. Using the rotor
as the pattern the tabs are positioned with the proper inset depth into
the edge of the wheel and the tabs are then at least tack welded into that
position."

Some welders are better than others, I was not sure I could get this done
properly, SO,
I sent my new wheels to Kitfox to have the tabs welded onto the wheels,
bolt holes drilled into the tabs and threaded. (2009)

I have two wheel/brg/tire/tube set up that I don't use any more that I could
let go for a fair price. The tires are Chen Seng 20x7-8 bald and the wheels
are alum with the three lugs.
I could take a picture for you. These are original for my Kitfox IV, but
have since changed to different wheels.

Clarification on my last email. The tires are tubeless (I forgot that).
The aluminum wheels are used but in pretty good shape. And I only have one
wheel bearing set. I don't know where the other one is...maybe in the
hanger. If of interest I could check that out, but I suspect you don't need
them.
