List,

My CHT for #4 is 301 degrees, #5 is 305 and #6 is 320 ~ 325.

Manifold pressure is 19" and 2400 rpm and 118 mph.
My question: Will 320 constantly at 19" shorten the life of my engine.

Or another way to put it is what is the highest CHT I can run without damage to the engine.

I know 356 degrees is max and cooler is better.

I have 240 hours on this engine and this is about the best I can get. Number one is running at 200 degrees and under.
Probes have been checked and are within 10 to 15 degrees.

Is anyone running CHT's at or near 320 ~325 at cruise.

I can not seem to get 5 & 6 below 320 deg.

You do seem to have tried everything obvious. a fellow over here is chasing high CHT across all cylinders and hasnt fixed it yet. Frustrating - which you already know. But he did tell me the correct main jet is now supposed to be #280
and needle jet #278 - #280
My engine is 2200 and i had highest CHT on #4 which was helped by adding some deflector strip around the rear corner of the duct there - to fill a leaking gap area around the back of the head

a visual check on overheating is for fins on the heads - they externally warp if overheated and can be seen looking along the bank - if they show all straight at 240 hrs is enough to say 320 CHT is working OK for you although we'd all be happier with 300 or less.
