|
|
Today I had a problem with my brakes. I could only make right turns, so I figured the QS-2 valve. I took it apart and found that one side's plunger had a small tear in the rubber shroud (for lack of a better description). So hopefully a rebuild kit exists and I'll order it.
But then I got to thinking since I've never opened one of these up before. How does the thing work??? Only being able to make right turns means that my left wheel won't dump air and stays locked.
But looking in the QS-2 I couldn't figure out how a torn rubber plunger would keep air from leaving the brake. I looked at the exploded view in the overhaul manual, but to be quite honest, I suck at reading mechanical drawings. I can't distinguish a moving part from the housing.
Can someone explain to me how this thing works.
Thanks
Ernie

Doug has the rebuild kits for them. Relatively easy to overhaul.

The left wheel could not be locked because if it was, you would always make left turns. The valve/seals for the left side are leaking.

Yes, it is very easy, and I've got a request into Doug. My question still remains however, how does the thing actually work?

Shuttles air to and from the appropriate wheel. In your case, most likely the air is leaking on one side and not passing it to the selected wheel.
Short answer...
