Hi All,
after a week of good weather during which I have kept the Xtra pegged down on my field the forecast has turned to heavy rain and thunder storms.
Consequently i have had to fold up the Xtra and stow her away in the barn because I have not sold my Challenger yet and my hangar is occupied..
Does anyone have an bright ideas for inserting the pins in the tubes which support the wings when folded. The first one is reasonably easy but with both wings folded it is alsmost impossible to reach the second fitting.
Obviously I can fix a rod of some sort to the pin so that I can reach past the rudder but has anyone any other ideas?
Cheers
Pat

On my mk111 one of the wing pins is a small diameter bolt (to fit easily) welded to form a T shape on the end of a length of light tube this can then be put into place from the rear after the wing has been slipped onto its mounting I then tie the free end up to the frame I have that keeps the tail feathers up together to take any strain away from the wing mount in the boom

Speaking of wing pins... I was having a heck of a time lining up the wing supports into the fuselage tube every time I folded the wings... I went to the hardware store and bought a couple of the plastic screws used to hold the toilet seats to the toilet (quit laughing), they fit the ID of the wing supports perfectly, I then pliabonded (contact cement) the screws into the supports... Now the curved head of the plastic screw slides into the fuselage tube with ease...

Of course, and drive a car too. The airlines don't advertise it, but there are some airline pilots with just one eye.

And Wiley Post, famous pilot, round-the-world flyer, had only one
eye. John Hauck, two eyes, flew right up to the very spot where Post
and his famed passenger, humorist Will Rogers, fatally crashed at Pt
Barrow Alaska, 1935. That makes this Kolb-attuned.
