Today!

Each year at the end of the List Fund Raiser, I post a message acknowledging everyone
that so generously made a Contribution to support the Lists. Its my way
of publicly thanking everyone that took a minute to show their appreciation
for the Lists.

Please take a moment and assure that your name is on that List of Contributors
(LOC)! As a number of members have pointed out over the years, the List seems
at least as valuable a building / entertainment tool as your typical magazine
subscription!

Assure that your name is on this year's LOC! Show others that you appreciate the
Lists. Making a Contribution to support the Lists is fast and easy using your
Credit card or Paypal on the Secure Web Site:

http://www.matronics.com/contribution

or by dropping a personal check in the mail to:

Matt Dralle / Matronics
581 Jeannie Way
Livermore CA 94550

I would like to thank everyone that has so generously made a Contribution thus
far in this year's List Fund Raiser! Remember that its YOUR support that keeps
these Lists going and improving! Don't forget to include a little comment about
how the Lists have helped you!

Best regards,

Matt Dralle

The actual electronics is certainly similar to the 10 Dof
board...."degrees of Freedon"... it incorporates a solid state 3 axis
qyro,Triple axis magnetometer, 3 axis accelerometer..and barometer for
altitude.... $7 dollars and 47 cents.. on ebay.. Think I paid 9 bucks...

It can be set up to communicate with the Arduino processor board...which
can be programmed to communicate with a display and to drive the
servos. The processor board cost 5 bucks or so..mostly from China or
Hong Kong for the knock off versions.. The original Arduino was
developed in Italy...and therefore cost more...

the 10 dof is the size of ones thumb...and the Arduino is credit
card size..

I got the hots for an auto pilot experiment for my current
Firefly....and bought these two boards along with the Raspberry Pi (35
bucks) which is also capable of taking the 10 dof board inputs...and
driving a video display...

Most of the canned software is out there... written in some version
of C language..

You tube has several videos showing the operation of a makeshift auto
pilot using these devices...Herb

Tim, What someone puts on their posts as a tag line or sign off is easy
enough to ignore if it's a bother. How about we just keep to Kolb issues in
our comments and discussions and let tag lines just take care of themselves

Seems like a lot of people these days spend their time trying to find something to offend them. If this post offends you; believe me, there are worse things in life to be offended by.

Just to keep it Kolb related. I'm making a mount below the nose for the action cam. The next video should be a little more exciting.

Atta Boy on both counts. I looked for the offending words and couldn't find them, must have been on an attachment or some other obscure place.

As for the mount under the nose, make it as solid as you can. You will probably find that there are certain RPM's that do not shake or jello. I suggest that on you initial flight, test that by flying at an rpm for a while, then go through the rest keeping track of which is which. You will probably find that the faster speeds will be the best. Let me know what you find.

Hang in there,
Larry

RE: "As for the mount under the nose, make it as solid as you can."

Are you SURE a camera under the nose is a good idea? Kolbs are a bit too easy to nose over; especially when trying to get unstuck with throttle (don't ask me how I know).

Jerry,

See attached pictures. I made a combination nose skid, pull handle, pitot and static tube mount under the nose. I will mount the camera on the upper portion of that mount. I have never had a problem nosing over except for one time when I failed to tie down the tail properly when testing the engine. The nose skid saved me from having to repair my nose cone.
