Hi to all,
I will be modifying my avionics panel and would like to prepare the new one prior to stripping out the old one.
I intend reusing the trim switch, it's position indicator and the square type circuit breakers.
Does anyone know what the hole cutout sizes are for these items?
Attached is a photo showing type of switches.

John - here attached is a screenshot of a small part of my radio panel drawing with dimensions (in mm) added. An export from this drawing was used to water-jet cut the panel, and the switches fitted pretty well - see:

However, it appears you have the meter-type indicator rather than the LED bar that came with my kit, so the hole size for that could be different.

Rowland,
Glad to hear your upgrading your panel. Been there, done that. Try to keep the plane young!
The trim indicator and trim switch dimensions are on the Ray Allen website in the instructions.
I’ve attached the .pdf from my wiring installation files. It is a bit dated but they haven’t changed in years.
Note: The indicator and switch are disgusting to wire due to the small #26 gauge wire and the dumb fact they are surface mounted and use #2-56 screws to hold them.
Consider the following:
Buy the appropriate D sub pins and crimper for these angel hair wires to make removal and replacement easier or I solder the wires to a pcb pin connector (shown in attached .jpeg) for the switch and indicator and mount the trim switch and indicator plugs on a board but you can let them hang free. I Wire the board to the airframe using about a #20 to 22 wire to the panel to airframe plug because I am annul. but I can slide out my transponder to get quick access to the board for unplugging.
Also, I redux a tapped strip of .032-.040 aluminum as my nutplate so I never have to try to get a tiny nut off the back of a hair like screw. Life is too short and my eyes and patience are not what they used to be.
To service a bad indicator or switch, simply unscrew the switch, pull the wire forward, disconnect the pcb connector. Remove the pcb connector from the bad indicator/switch and solder on to the new one. Plug it up, screw it back together and leave in less than one hour.
There are too many types of circuit breakers. Are you using Klixon or some other manufacturer? What I’m wondering, is how you mount your breakers. I put the breakers hard against one another so they can’t rotate, and I fabricate a bus bar with even holes to screw the breakers to which makes for a very rigid CB panel that is very compact. In 12 AY I have three different brands of CBs of all different lengths and it makes life difficult to get even spacing.

Hi John
I have just done the same job, finished last week. I have all the
dimensions but they in my office so I can't get them till tomorrow.
However the CBs are on the RS website and they have a pdf there which
includes the cut out dimensions. The cutouts for the trim indicator and
switch are on the MAC Trim website. It's not called that but Googling
MAC Trim will find it for you.
