Whilst replacing the fuel lines on my Tri Gear and recalibrating the fuel gauge I carefully measured the usable fuel using a (known accurate) measuring jug. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it held 74.7 litres usable. This is considerably more than placarded, and I was wondering if anyone else has found the same?

Rick

Hi Rick,
I have been closely associated with 2 Europas that I have owned.
The first was a classic mono wheel which I built from a kit purchased from
the factory in 1993. This had a fuel capacity from unusable to full of 81
litres.
I now own a TriGear XS Europa built from a kit bought in around 2001 and it
has a fuel capacity of only 64 litres. Not far short of 20 less???
MAY BE SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT?

Pete

Interesting. My Europa is #100, I believe from 1999, so I guess I have the larger tank and I'm entirely happy with that.

Has anyone rigged a secondary tank in the luggage bay to further extend range? The payload is clearly there to take it if not too full of people and other luggage.

Several builders have secondary portable tanks, including the longrange tank supplied by Europa.Thomas Scherer had several when he flew from Alaska to Japan non-stop.

This is interesting.

I'm getting closer to installing a bladder into my XS mono leaking fuel tank. It will be interesting to see what the capacity is when I've finished.
