Anyone remember the top device in the attached pic? They were sold on eBay a number of years ago for these engines.

I do. The bottom one in the photo is from the original Russian tool kit for the M14. Have two very bad experiences with them. Actually had to cut them off just above the spark plug hole because the hook on the tool jammed inside the cylinder when attempting to remove it. That one I do NOT recommend using under any circumstances.

I have never seen the top one. Looks like a very good unit.
I wonder if that could be a Czech or Polish version. Will check with the local Wilga guy.

The bottom one is the factory original (Russian or Chinese) both of which I have been using for about 20 years.

I have one of the TDC tools as shown on top. The guy that made them was from San Diego and used to be on eBay under the name, RUSSIANRADIAL. He was somewhat of an eccentric individual and kind of difficult to deal with. I have not seen him list anything for sale for quite a few years now. The instrument is quite accurate when used in conjunction with a digital level.
