Petr in the Czech Republic should be able to help out with tires. Email at: navratil.2(at)seznsam.cz for pricing and shipping. I've bought a full set of tires from him in the past. New old stock...no dry rot or cracks. Price included main and nose gear tires and tubes.
Also, there is a tire company in state of Virginia USA that can retread/recap the main tires if your old casing is good. Better rubber and lasts a lot longer than the original tires. Last time I checked it was $400 to recap both main tires.

Hang on guys . If we are going to place a big order for tires then let's get fresh new ones. We need to buy at least 25 sets to make it feasible. There is new production now from a Czech provider. The tires left are at best from the final barum production run for Egypt in 2001. Or even older. Rubber starting to get bad. Mietis tires can be gotten new and are high quality military spec. Same Manufacturer supplying Czech air force L39 now

How much for a set? There is a distributor in the US for the main tires but he is pricey. About $350+ for each main tire the last time I checked and that doesn't include tubes. I haven't had any problems with the NOS tires from Petr but new current run tires would be nice.
Mitis also has offices in NC and I contacted them several years ago. Said since they are military tires, would need a broker in Czech Republic that can export military items. Same tires used on Czech LET aircraft so have to make sure it says for LET for customs.
If we can get orders for 25 + sets at a reasonable price, I'm in for a set.

OK...great. If the NOS tires are good and can be had a for two thirds of the cost, with shipping, AND includes new tubes, why not use them till they are gone? Can you get new tubes thru the contact?

Also, there is a tire company in state of Virginia USA that can retread/recap the main tires if your old casing is good. Better rubber and lasts a lot longer than the original tires. Last time I checked it was $400 to recap both main tires.

The last new tires ever made by barum where left overs from the Egypt LOT contract circa 2000. I bought almost all of that inventory. But they are now all used up. Other people have tires but unknown production dates. I think going for fresh new rubber makes sense. At least that is my plan. I probably will buy 10 to 15 sets. Sell some and keep the rest for my 2 birds.

Bob,
Price for a set?
My tires from Petr were perfect also. Been running now for 2 years and aside from the normal fast wearing of the Barum tires, they look perfect. An L29 owner who uses the recaps says he gets 4x the wear from the recaps. I'm not a recap fan but it's tempting.
Just an aside, if you have any instruments, such as the DG/RMI/ADF indicator or RPM indicator not working correctly, you can send to Petr and he can have them serviced. Sent my RPM indicator, because mine was sticking, and it works perfectly now. Cleaned and calibrated.

The older "new" tires are perfectly fine as long as they haven't been exposed to UV light.Rubber doesn't deteriorate or lose structural integrity if stored indoors and they will perform as good as a newly manufactured tire. The rubber used in the older tires may even be better quality than tires manufactured recently, so Anthony's source of tires would very desirable especially if they are readily available.
