Guys
Question for those who didn't install a Van's or other analog gauge, and installed an EFIS with engine monitoring (especially a GARMIN G3X system): how and where did you install the Manifold pressure sensor?
Best

I usually mount it to the sub panel on the aft side. I use the standard Van's kit and adapt the hose to fit the sensor.

Did you use the VA-119 braided hose from the VAN's MP install kit?

I did the same as Phil. Mounted the MP sensor on the firewall sensor block. I also used the extra hole in the sensor block to daisy chain the MP into my lightspeed boxes.
Attaching a few pics of the sensor block. From left to right: Oil pressure sensor, fuel pressure sensor, MP sensor. I have the MP on the right because I'm pulling the MP source off of Cylinder 6, instead of 5 like the plans call for. The red plastic line from the MP sensor is the line that feeds my Lightspeed boxes.
By pulling MP from cylinder 6, and mounting the MP sensor there, I was able to re-use the stock MP install kit braided hose.

Thanks Ed
That is exactly the pictures and the information I was looking for.
I will use the 3rd position of the firewall sensor block, will also use the Van's braided hose and connect to cylinder #6 as well.
Thanks

Van's hose is designed for you to connect to cyl #5 (pass side rear). IIRC that is what the plans show.

Ed,
What is the insulating material on your firewall? Was that from Aircraft Spruce?

That is correct. It's designed to connect to #5, and then pass thru the firewall on the starboard side of the firewall, I believe with the sensor inside the firewall.
I wanted the sensor on the sensor block (weird, I know). Since the sensor block is on the port side of the FW, I pulled MP off of #6. The stock MP line worked great for this run.

I was waiting for that question...
It's Heatshield Mat: http://www.flyboyaccessories.com/Heat-Shield-Mat-36-x58-p/2402.htm
Helps deflect engine heat, and I don't have to have any insulation on the cold side of the firewall... for reasons discussed in painful details in other threads!

What is the insulating material on your firewall? Was that from Aircraft Spruce?

Philip, Bill, Leon
Did you use the VA-119 braided hose from the VAN's MP install kit?

Did you use the VA-168 triple-sender mount?

Do you have a picture?
Thanks

I'm running a barbed fitting and poly tubing from cylinder out to sensor in, is this an acceptable way to supply pressure to sensor?

I vote no. I'd use some sort of braided hose
at least, for the cylinder connection. On mine I used
van's restrictor fitting also. That will both dampen
the pulses, and prevent a major leak if the hose fails.

I agree with Tim. It is the way I did mine.

I only can support Tim's comment here. we had on a Glastar 2x a standard
hose collapse until we replaced it with a thick walled braided hose.
