Put it in a cup in the oven and dry it out.  It will return to blue for reuse.

Thanks John. The question I really wanted answered, does the air filter really need all eight felt filter pucks? Or could I lose two or three and add more desiccant? JB

That desiccant you have is reusable. Pop it into a microwave for two minutes or so, and it turns a deep purple, ready to be used again. And yes I only put one filter puck on each end of the drier along with the fine aluminum screens. The screens keep the desiccant from getting into the system. It really doesn't last a whole lot longer, it will hold more water.

Jon,The blue to pink/red desiccant is no longer used as the moisture off it is corrosive.  Best to switch to the orange to gray green type which is not corrosive.
You will note that the assembly order is: (from the AIR IN END)
  1. ss end cap
  2. ss spring
  3. ss end plate
  4. ss screen
  5. felt pad
  6. ss screen
  7. Total contents of desiccant packet
  8. ss screen
  9. Next alternate pad, screen, pad, screen until all pads are used up
  10. ss screen
  11. ss end plate
  12. ss spring
  13. ss end cap
Note that this gives you 7 pads after the desiccant, I am assuming that this was designed to absorb the moisture if you were a bit late in changing your desiccant.  My personal opinion is that rather than to remove some felt pads you should consider moving you your time line for desiccant change.  Failure to maintain your pneumatic system (keep it clean and dry) will cost you dearly down the road.  I have found that telling this to many CJ drivers is much like trying to convince  a 16 year old that smoking may result in lung cancer.

Hi Doug,

Good advise!!

I have a new new air drier in with my spare parts which has never been fitted. I can't find any hardware to mount it which is the most likely reason it is not sitting on the airplane. I live in the tropics and have already seen what moisture can do to the inside of my air system so am keen to fit it.

Do you have a fitting kit and mounting instructions for a CJ??
