Looks intact and probably is. Nightmare to pull out all the fasteners and
metal. Yuk!
In fresh water , just pull the engine and gear out, do some corrosion
control and reassemble. Inspect, test and go fly!
4-6 hard weeks plus engine rebuild time. Salt leaching out of the seams,
joints fastener holes etc. is a real concern.
$25,000 insurance job in fresh water, but in salt water, I doubt it will
return to fly. Would require a higher inspection requirement due to
corrosion concerns and getting the fasteners out and changing trim motors
and tailplane system on a classic is a bit of a pain..
Saved the pilots life and the environment.... Must be a good airplane.

Bud Yerly

Bud it did not end up intact. There is another picture from a local
paper showing the engine broken off from the fuselage. WInd and waves I
guess.

At least we know they float!

Sorry to read about your misfortune Bob, glad that you walked away relatively unharmed yourself.
Take you time, hope that in the end all works out for you!
When you are up to it, could you please let us know what happened?

All the best also from me and sorry for my post above - it was inadequate and not funny.

Roland,
Your comment made me laugh whole-hearted, that's for sure.
Of course the comedy is now overshadowed by what appears to be the loss of
the plane. That's very sad, and I feel for the pilot/owner. There is still
the over-stretched voice at the back of my head that is saying it 'might?'
be fixable. I think of Thomas Scherer who has done it, and probably Bud, and
other names here?
Have a great day,
Greg Fuchs
