Well how big of a boy are ya? 2.5 gals is about 15 pounds. Maybe an exercise program and fly in flip flops and shorts will get gross weight down. Nothing worse then flying to sequence and having to do the math in your head and how much fuel you have left, or maybe there is something worse.......dead sticking a manhole cover in. Wink

I need some inside information from you Yak gurus concerning the Yak55M fuel system.
In order to maximize competitive aerobatic performance I would prefer to launch with just enough fuel to complete the sequence, descend in the box and land with the minimum safe fuel.
In the event of a runway closure due to an accident, etc. which might cause an unexpected delay, is the 2.5 minute inverted fuel tank available?
I can see holding inverted for 2.5 minutes while the runway is being cleared but will the remaining fuel then drain back in to the inverted tank when I roll upright and lead to fuel starvation?
Thanks,
Dan Caldwell

There is no such thing as an "inverted fuel tank". The wing tanks (sometimes
only one on a 55) drain into a collector tank of 2.5 L under the floor. This
has a flop-tube which means it will pick up fuel in any attitude and is the
only fuel supply for the aircraft. So it is not suddenly available for
emergency inverted flight!
