Yak52, original Balkan radio.

Scenario: radio working fine on landing. Go out couple days later, nothing , completely dead.

So far have replaced both the frequency changer front cockpit component and the rear fuselage component with friends used parts. No change. Carl told me about the fuse behind the fuselage unit. Tested and was blown. Replaced and blew immediately. Bypassed fuse and switch/circuit breaker on left front cockpit panel flipped.

Don't know how to run down the presumed short, or if anyone has encountered similar situation and their solution, thanks in advance.

Okay, please accept this as written with respect because sometimes tone doesn't come across properly an email. Never ever ever bypass a fuse that is blowing indicating a problem. It's designed to protect the wiring in the aircraft not the equipment. If you damage the wiring in a place you cannot inspect bad things can happen. Bypassing the fuse, should it be the equipment that is causing the problem can cause more damage to the equipment. You need to get a wiring diagram for the radio, check it from the popped Main the circuit breaker to the fuse behind the unit and then from the fuse behind the unit to the power input to the equipment. Chances are you have a wiring fault there somewhere. Once you figured out where the damage wiring is, you need to replace it and then determine if you damage the equipment by bypassing the fuse. It's possible your damaged both radios with the bypass but hopefully not.
If wading into a wiring diagram and using a voltmeter is not your thing then find a competent aircraft mechanic to help you. One of the great things about these experimental airplanes is all the fun you can have working on them, but don't compromise your personal safety. Let us know what you find I would be curious.

Bill your first hint that you had a wiring short should have been when the second fuse was placed inline and it blew.
The Russian write numbers on the terminal ends of each of their wires. If you have a wiring diagram you can figure out where the other end of that wire is so you can do a continuity check.
