I removed the 1'x2' panel located on the aft belly of my YAK52 to see what was under it and there was nothing? It is the panel located between the trailing edge of the wings and looks pretty important, but I can see no use? Anyone have any ideas here?

The ADF antenna?? Only thing I can think of in that location.

Dan,
The ADF antenna was under that panel. I removed that heavy ADF antenna long, long ago. You can see the the large cannon plug in the belly just behind the flap actuator.

ADF was probably removed.
