Just wondering what is the best way to fix small cracks in the aluminum fairings starting around the screw holes? Had one tig-welded and it just cracked beside the weld? Any ideas?

The metal is probably work hardened around the screw holes from normal use.
Annealing before welding might help but the metal is probably an alloy
that doesn't weld well. Annealing will burn off the paint So you can't win.
