Once upon a time I owned a mono-wheel and flew almost 700 hours in this configuration before I saw the light and converted it to a tri-gear. (Bliss!)

Only once did I experience a flat tyre as a mono and was obliged to create a jacking piece. Tim Houlihan's article "International Rescue" in the December 2016 issue of The Europa Flyer brought the flat tyre incident back to mind.

My jacking piece didn't require any additional holes to be drilled in the undercarriage swinging arm. Considering the 4 bolt heads which attach the LG07 shock absorber bottom plate to the swinging arm, cut a square from 3/16" steel plate large enough to encompass all 4 bolt heads with a bit of a margin.

Drill 4 bolt holes in the square plate to match those in the undercarriage swinging arm. Enlarge the 2 upper holes in the plate enough to allow the bolt heads through.

Weld onto the plate a metal pad of any design you think suitable for a trolley jack to lift against. If you want to protect the paint on the swinging arm, glue some thin soft material onto the face of the plate which contacts the swinging arm. Job done!

When you want to jack the aircraft up, remove the two lower bolts from the LG07 shock absorber bottom plate and then attach the jacking piece to the swinging arm with the same bolts. I used this device several times over the years to change tyres.

I'm still in one piece!

We have carried this block for years in our mono and used it a few times too! http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?t=92035&highlight=jacking+block

It does not require any holes in the swing arm nor use the existing bolts. The plywood is about 6 inches square and the bolts are AN4-15A.
