Searched through the various manuals and couldn't find anything on where and how to set up the Neutral Elevator trim light on the CJ6. Anyone have anything on this ?

Hello,
You have to check in the radio compartment, behind the rear seat.
Open the back seat access, and look on the right and down side on the frame .
You will see the 2 cables of the tab trim .
the lower cable go through the neutral switch (check picture)
You must have a device clamped on the cable , when moving trough it activate it.
mine was broken and i replaced it by a lead device, from a fishing shop, clamped on the cable . (after aligned the trim and make a colored point on the cable, to notice the neutral position)
Adjusted to go through the switch.
if switch is ok and bulb on the green trim indicator are good, it will be lighted when neutral adjusted.

Interesting, my neutral trim switch is located on left side of aircraft behind the rear cockpit panel forward of the rear cockpit pulleys. I also used a small lead fishing line weight which I crimped to the trim cable. I filed the lead down so it was a bit pointed on both ends so it would pass smoothly through the switch.

Hi Greg;
You are describing the location correctly, certainly for the CJ as “left side of the aircraft”.
Previous poster may be referring to different aircraft but most likely is simply describing incorrectly as “open back seat access, look to the right”. In both cases it is the left side of the aircraft. In aviation left & right is always as the pilot sees it.

If things are “As the pilot sees it”, then the previous poster was correct. If it is behind the pilot, then for the pilot to see it, he would have to turn around and face the back of the plane!
Yep, my Airforce Instructor called me a smart ass when he told me the same thing, and I asked why the engines on large aircraft weren’t numbered the other way around…… Oh how we laughed.

Well then, this explains a lot more. I saw the word " Air Farce" . Left/Right, Up/Down,This Way/ That Way. All sooooo confusing for the Air Force Boys and Girls. Us Army guys have to keep it simple. Pull up on the collective you go up, push down on the collective you go down. We have to keep it simple, we're Army!? Dang I love this inter-service rivalry! Oh do I need to mention the ARMY finally beat Navy after 15 years! Can't say much about the Marines. After all they are Marines! I hear they are STILL looking for a few good men. Fly safe and keep the greasy side down . ( That would be pointing toward the earth for the Air Force guys)!!
