Hello, I purchased my Allegro 2000 to learn to fly in it, and have enjoyed every minute of it! However, as I live in Colorado I have had very little interaction with the other Allegro owners. My CFI generally trains in a Piper Cherokee and has had no previous experience in light sport aircraft.
Everything is coming along fine, but my CFI is a bit hesitant about using flap position #2. I would appreciate any input from other Allegro pilots about landing with flaps in position #2. What speeds do you maintain on approach, do you use position #2 in headwinds and/or crosswinds? What other advice do you have for mastering this amount of flaps?

I also learned to fly in an allegro 2000. My flight instructor was just the opposite everything was full flap, stall it in landings.
I found it extremely difficult to land as the plane being so light It had absolutely no inertia at landing and your control inputs did little.
After hours and hours and hours I finally got to where I could land that way. But was never comfortable with it. I then started reading on a CT forum about landing with minimum flaps and about 2500 to 2800 rpm and my landings became much more consistently Smooth. After you get very comfortable with one flap landings then I would move on to two flaps that you might use in very short field and emergency situations. Talk about putting out the barn doors with position number two.. I still approach at about 60 mph but the angle to maintain the speed is severe.. it makes the flare and round out extremely difficult. But it certainly will land in a very short distance. As an emergency procedure you should become comfortable with doing it but I would not recommend it as routine.

Hi.
I've attached the Allegro flight training supplement out of my POH. I hope it can help. It's 26 pages in total. Due to the attachment limitations here, I've broken it up into 4 PDFs.
You should be able to land well with no flaps, #1 flaps, and #2 flaps before you meet a DPE. You'll see me landing with full flaps quite a bit. In fact, if you're not good at landing with full flaps, an engine out situation will be difficult. So, don't allow the CFI to skimp on teaching every aspect of the Allegro. It's for your benefit and safety. Ideally, being able to dead stick every landing (As the situation allows).
