Hi all, my XS TG wasn't too comfortably upholstered when I bought it; I replaced the seat cushion foam with fairly expensive Confor memory foam layers as advised by the BGA for gliders; I still find that after a couple of hours, I'm pretty uncomfortable. Can anyone recommend a source of nice thick comfortable seat pads or just the foam to refill my existing ones?

TIA,

Rick

A change in seat cushion type may be only part of the issue. I have used the Confur type memory foam but use a profile in the lumbar region to prevent backache. After 3+ hours my bottom goes a bit dumb, this l think would happen whatever the seating arrangement. l don't get the backache now and attribute this to the correct (for me) lumbar shape. I had some additional bolstering added to the back cushion which helps lateral location.

Talk to Wendy at info(at)wstrimmingandupholstery.com about upholstery etc.

JW

Rick,

We still love our Oregon Aero seat cushions after 12 years and 900 hours.

They are comfortable even on long days with two 3 to 4 hour legs.

I flew a katana over the weekend with sheepskin and a very thin layer of foam.   Pretty comfortable.Plan to put the same in hj460.

I find the same problem with my standard Europa cushions. I was considering using confor foam and found this useful link:

http://www.kitplanes.com/issues/31_9/builder_spotlight/seat_foam_21072-1.html

In the end I found that for me (at 6') the problem is down to the lack of thigh support, resulting in all my weight being supported through my bottom. I discovered that placing a reasonably supportive standard cushion under my thighs (but not under my bottom) helped immensely. It allows my weight to be distributed over a larger area. I now need to replace my standard Europa cushions with something that provides the same solution.

I've attached some pictures from Fred Klein's solution. The "Rolls Royce" of seats in my opinion. You can see the additional thigh support he has.

Hope this helps.

Carl

Cheeks, thigh and lower lumbar support guided my choices…seat w/ 1” green + 1” blue + foam wedges…

Hi Fred.

Any chance you could make me a set? I have a Europa Tri-Gear classic.

Thanks
Carl

Sorry Carl…I appreciate the “Rolls Royce” compliment, but I’m slammed w/ way too many obligations.

I would, however, be happy to share more pixs and particulars…I think the issues of thigh support & lumbar support are key to comfort.

Fred
