Excellent! Ihope everyone who reads about cleaning the snot bottle
takes it to heart. BTW, the only "drift" I have outside my hangar in
the winter is the shadow from my hangar because it faces due north.

Many people completely ignore flushing the snot bottle every couple of
years and the result is exactly what you've experienced Mark. Glad
you got it fixed.

Update on the notso snotty snot valve. We removed it yesterday and it
was completely obstructed with coagulated snot/debris. 30 minutes of
flushing with avgas still had it letting small and large chunks go. We
switched to hot tap water with Dawn dishwashing detergent and that
seemed to let bigger chunks go faster. We vibrated it with the rough
spot on a bench grinder as is sped up and slowed down, beat on it with
the plastic handle of a screwdriver and blew it out after every
flush/cleaning attempt. It took two hours and probably 40 cleaning
cycles before it looked like we were getting to the end of the junk.
The final flushes with avgas dumped into a coffee filter looked
pretty good. It now works properly. If we'd had an ultrasonic
cleaner it probably would have been the best method to get it all
soaked/vibrated loose.
The rebuilt compressor works fine. The rubber tip on the piston in
the pop off valve was bad and limiting the pressure build up.

Rebuilt compressor may very well be the problem. Over the years I've
seen several so-called "rebuilt" compressors fail in more ways than one.

I have found that putting Drano in the bottle and soaking it. Maybe several times also Eats the rust and crud. Gary. CJ. N22YK
