I think my leaking part may be the brake disabling valve?? It looks like the figure in the lower right, has one line coming in, one line going out, and an open unused male fitting (where the leak originates). It also has the little hangy down part like in the lower right figure. I included a picture of the part in the prior post, but it is kinda blurry.

If it's coming from the brake disabling solenoid, which by the way I
have never seen in over 18 years, fabricate yourself a bypass by
connecting the "goes-in" line to the "goes-out" lineand remove the brake
disabling solenoid from the aircraft. Secure the cannon plug when
removing it from the solenoid.

Thanks Dennis. The disabling valve is already disabled from being active, so I'm guessing that may be why the port is unused (maybe not, I have no idea how it was disabled). It'd be nice if I could just cap that port.
I know it'd be safer to bypass/remove the whole thing. What is the best option for the short piece of line and 2 fittings that I'd need? Is there a source for aluminum line, or would copper or something like that work?? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

No such thing as a dumb question.
Purchase 6mm 5052 aluminum tubing from McMaster-Carr. http://www.mcmaster.com/
Remove the B-Nuts and tubing from the output of the brake reducing valve and the input to the brake differential valve. Remove the sleeves and the B nuts from the original metric tubing. Fabricate a new 6mm line from the output of the brake reducing valve to the input of the brake differential valve, thus bypassing the brake disabling solenoid, using the metric B-nuts and metric sleeves you just removed from the original metric tubing. Make the new 5052 tubing line long enough so you can bend it as necessary.

Doug,
I think Bmsim said he believes the leak is coming from the brake
disabling solenoid, which is between the brake reducing valve and the
brake differential valve. If that's where the leak is coming from, it
would be a first for me, since the only way the brake disabling solenoid
dumps air pressure overboard is if it is activated, thus preventing air
pressure from reaching the brake differential valve (QS2 on the CJ).
If it ends up not being the brake disabling solenoid, then most
definitely he should purchase the new brake reducing valve (QS2) from you.

What you may want to try first is disconnect the cannon plug on the
brake disabling solenoid and see if the problem still exists when you
squeeze the brake handle. If it does, proceed with the bypass.

This is the first time in 23 years of owning a CJ-6 that I've heard of a solenoid controlling the by-pass valve for the brakes. My airplane a 69, came with the by-pass valve, a manual button on top of the rear cockpit control stick. I did away with it by making a line right from the QS1 direct to the QS2. (It took me one hour.) You also mentioned you had a "parking brake". Was that original or added homemade part? Because I've never seen a "parking brake" as a Nanchang part or on the drawings.

I took the bypass valve out. The bypass button/solenoid was disabled years ago, but evidently something inside has failed, allowing air to escape via the open port when the parking brake is applied.
After removing the valve, there is plenty of line to bend it over and eliminate the bypass valve if I had a male/male union. Does anyone know where I might be able to get a male/male flare union that I could plug in after putting the appropriate angle on the line? I'm having trouble locating this part so far.
Thanks Guys,

Be careful trying to bend the original tubing. It is very brittle and
can easily crack.
You could try Doug Sapp for the male to male union. But I can honestly
say I have never seen one (metric with the correct flare).
The alternative is what I described earlier using the 5052 metric
aluminum tubing.

Thanks Dennis, I shot Doug a note.
Do you know where the differential valve is located? The line from the pressure reducing valve into the disabling valve is easy to see/replace, but the line on the other side of the disabling valve disappears as it heads to the differential valve. I'm not sure if it is nearby or I'm looking at a long complex run of line to replace it.

Yes, it's on the forward side of the front spar on the right side of the
front seat. Look down from the seat on the right and you'll see the
swing arm which moves fore and aft when you move the rudder pedals. The
swing arm is mounted to the brake differential valve. If you follow the
air line forward from the brake disabling solenoid, it is attached to
the rear of the brake differential valve.
(Now you know one of the reasons why I still teach the 2 day Yak 52
maintenance training course)

Thanks Dennis, so this is the reducing valve? You had said the reducing valve was in the upper right of your picture, and this is in the lower right, so just confirming before I buy a replacement (noone seems to have kits right now).

Dennis,I do stock a air line fitting which has double male flare ends for use as a splicer on the 6MM hard lines. P/n is HB4-4-4. It uses the std B nut which requires a 17MM wrench.Â
We also have worked out a nifty air line cap by using the above fitting, a sleeve/ferrel, a B nut, and a undrilled air line restricter. Very handy to have when testing systems.
We also stock a full range of pipe to flare fittings as used on the CJ6.

Be careful trying to bend the original tubing. It is very brittle and can easily crack.
You could try Doug Sapp for the male to male union. But I can honestly say I have never seen one (metric with the correct flare).
The alternative is what I described earlier using the 5052 metric aluminum tubing.

Thanks Guys,
Brandon

Hi Doug,
I sent you an email. How can order a couple of the HB4-4-4 parts from you? Wouldn't mind a price on the cap too.
Thank you,
Brandon

Well, I ordered and received the male to male fitting for the 6mm air line. Unfortunately the union fitting was too small in diameter. The one I have measures about 11.5mm on the threads, and the one needed measures about 13.5mm. I've sent Doug an email to see if he has a similar union fitting the next size up.
The difference in sizes are the same as the two thread sizes on the firewall forward T assembly, where one side is slightly larger than the other. I'm going to try and find a union that is the size of the larger side's threads.
If I can't find a union that size (meaning if Doug doesn't have one), then I guess I'm stuck replacing the entire air line, and re-using the nuts on the old lines like Dennis suggested. The only issue there is, I have flaring tools, but I don't know how this thing is flared or if I can put a flare on it that will mate to the Russian fittings properly.
