Hi guys, I just recently installed an aftermarket voltage regulator replacing the Ducati on my 914.  Its a John Deere unit that the RV12 folks are using with good success.  The part number is AKH6004.  I found it online for $20.23 with free shipping.  The unit has a set point on 14.2 volts.  I ordered a second one to keep in the plane as a spare.  At that price it was too hard not to.   While not exactly plug & play, it only required a sub plate to retain the existing mounting holes.  See picture attached.
