I was researching Oratex covering for my MK3 Classic, does anyone have any experience with this product? please share...   thank you

I used the PolyFiber method but The July, 2014 issue of Kitplanes had a very good article on oratex.   Google oratex kitplanes and it should come up.

I have used this material on R/C model airplanes many times, not yet on a full-size aircraft. Reportedly, Oratex is significantly lighter and easier to use than the other systems (Stits Poly Fiber, Ceconite, etc.). More expensive UNTIL you compare the actual overall cost and time of the older systems. If your time is worth any more than two dollars an hour, Oratex should be a bargain even with the higher initial cost. Remember the "price" of Oratex includes all the dope, silver UV, and color paint.



Another very well liked "new" alternative is the Stewart Systems, which is water based and relatively inexpensive.

I am building a Firefly and am going to cover with ORATEX I bought the sample package from the and used it to cover a piece of a rudder that I had laying around the barn it worked great I was using an unmeasured heat gun and got one piece too hot turned a little brown ( it was. Cub yellow) but it was much easier than stitts which I covered my Firestar with 25 years ago there is no Oder from the materials no coating after coating 

   I would suggest you buy the sample kit $25 and experience it yourself if you don’t have all the machinery needed to do Stitts you might come out about even using Oratex as the air movers and compressor are not needed you could do it in your house without exposing yourself or your family to all those fumes ! Just my 2cents        Chris Davis
