912 Bed-Mount bolt torque

Have a 912ULS configured with a bed mount. I am trying to determine the correct torque for the cap screws that hold the Zenair steel Angle Brackets to the bottom of the crank case (Sonex call them "Engine Mount Attach Bars").   I find various recommended torque values for the M8 cap screws as high as 26 ft lbs, which seems high for a bolt screwed into an aluminum crank case.



Any advise appreciated.

If it's a 8 X 1.25 that's close to a 5/16-18 for me and I wouldn't go beyond 14 ft lb and use Loctite 243 to keep it tight. The HMM specifies 17.7 ft lb for unlisted M8. I guess that gives you 16 ft lb +/- 1.5 ft lb. :-}.

My 701 uses the bed mount also. The only reference I can find is in my

old Rotax Heavy Maintenance Manual. 71-00-00. Page 20. Paragraph (6.1.3)

May 01/2007. It's for a dynafocal mount. But it is using the same bolt

holes as the bed mount. 29.5 ft. lbs.  Also specifies that these should

be 10.9 strength bolts. I recently replaced my M8 bolts after about 1500

hours on them. Finding this reference was why I changed them.

I assume, your system uses Allen key cap bolts drilled for safety wire. Should this be the case, do the bolts up "snug" then safety wire them to prevent movement.



If not drilled for safety wire - suggest you do so.
