Has anyone installed the Skybeacon on their -52. Curious how it turned out. Pics would be nice.

Thanks in advance!

CJ installation of uavionix skybeacon (left wing, ads-b out) and skysensor (right wing, ads-b in). Includes LED position lights, strobes, internal waas gps and wireless for configuration/monitor and ads-b in. Only downside is that if anything fails entire unit must be replaced (at least that’s uavionix current position). Ads-b in overlays ForeFlight graphics.

My CJ was a yakkity overhaul back in ‘96, with wingtip position/strobes. Strobes had been rewired later with their own switched power (not in combo with position lt), so after removing strobe high voltage power supply from inside wingtips it was one for one to uavionix. Given wingtip visibility to belly transponder antenna, I had to go to “35” on sensitivity in configuration app.

“Hardest” part was removing wingtip and retapping light assembly nut plates for larger uavionix mounting screws. Uavionix tech folks are very helpful.

I went with the experimental versions that are not eligible for FAA rebate. TSO version costs about same after rebate, but requires rebate hoops and taxman levy...and maybe experimental version has more compliance flexibility in future if FAA ever issues an AD...

Cheers, Rich

I too installed the in and out versions of the U-Avionix Skybeacon.  Rather than re-tap the nuts, I simply used the correct sized screws rather than the screws that came with the ADSB units.  I believe they were M3 sized.

I prefer to think of it as “nut enhancement”.
