A CJ6 costs a third of the price, gives the same performance, is better looking, has more warbird feel.
A Yak 52 is a 4th of the price.
Even some T28s and AT 6s are cheaper than T 34s.
Is it because it has a Continental engine and are easier to replace, get parts than all the other planes I mentioned?

It’s because they all had to spend a fortune to make them airworthy. Go Cj/Yak…

It’s 20 knots faster than a CJ and 40 knots faster than a Yak 52.
It has American military heritage (and was used by numerous other countries).
Cockpit’s are much more comfortable and roomy.
Parts are easy to find and no metric tools, screws, etc.
The T-34 is very reliable with a very low mx per flight hour requirement. Any GA mechanic will be familiar with and comfortable working on it.
Baggage compartment is about twice the size.
It’s certified so no restrictions on operations.
I have owned T-34’s since 2009. I have owned a Yak 50 since 2011. I regularly operate and maintain both experimental and certified aircraft.
The Yak 52 is a steal and the CJ-6 is very good value. They are both very good airplanes.
In the end it comes down to mission, maintenance, and preferences. It’s a bit like asking the why the A-36 Bonanza costs more than a B-55 Baron.

I have a friend who have had many warbirds, P47, P40, P51s, Hellcat, T 28s,.
Showed him my CJ6 and he loved it, said is as much warbird as any of the ones mentioned.
This is when the T 34 conversation about why is so overpriced started, and we couldnt figure it out, most T34s are even a lot older than most of the CJ6s out there.

If T-34’s were ‘over priced’ they would not sell. In fact the market ‘going’ price now is $200k and rising because aviators like the US iron. Also, Yaks and Chang’s used to be a GREAT deal! In the late 90’s and early 2000’s we were buying M14Ps for $5k and Chang motors were being given away. Current M14P prices rival Lycoming/Continental prices and are getting to be very limited. The T34 is a great plane and parts are plentiful. Having owned a nice T34B I was always scared of the AD’s and Beechcraft’s hatred of the plane but it sure was EASY in daily MX compared to my YAK in about every way. But my new Epsilon trumps them all😎

Agree with Todd. The CJ is a great airplane and may be one of the best overall values in aviation. Mine stated out as a sad project back in 2009 and was awarded the rubber chicken in 2010 at Porterville for the ugliest airplane. It's slowly evolved into something nice with the help of the CJ community here in central Arizona. Attached are some before and after images.
The only downside is the amount of maintenance it takes to stay on top of things. Without Jill and Doug, it’s certain that I’d be flying something different. Love the CJ, but wish that I could fly it as much as I work on it.

..and with that flat engine you won’t get the same round engine health benefits of “whole body vibration” that is only now being hyped by the fitness industry...the whiter teeth bit may be a stretch though.
