|
|
For those that have gone before me, I have installed a Dynon Skyview
SP-AP(Autopilot)-Panel but have yet to rig up the servos yet for
autopilot functionality.
I have wired up the standard Europa provided Ray Allen trim circuit that
I have had for years through the unit though and turned everything on
today to see if the trim still worked (you still use the old trim switch
for trim) and correctly oriented.
The Ray Allen trim switch is a momentary switch and normally pushing the
switch for either up or down trim will run the tail mounted trim servo
and releasing it will stop it. I have wired up a 'kill switch' in case
the switch gets stuck but have never had to use it. .
However, now that I have wired it through the Dynon unit, carefully
following the wiring diagram, the switch will run the servo correctly
but it does not stop when you release the switch. The only way to stop
it is to 'dab' the switch for opposite trim, then it will stop. It is
like the switch tells the Dynon panel to power the trim servo and it
provides power until you command a momentary opposite command.
I'm interested to know if anyone else has run into this and what the
solution is. To me a momentary switch should be just that.
Thoughts?

Hello Martin. I have wired in the auto pilot Dynon panel and had this problem. I posted a question on the Dynon forum and got my answer.........which was to install a couple of diodes. See the link below

Hope this helps

I had a trim runaway in my Europa which was merely due to a stuck trim switch. Since this panel mounted rocker switch (from Aircraft Spruce IIRC) didn't have a distinct "click" while operating it in the different directions, this was barely noticeable. The solution at that moment was just to tip the opposite direction to stop it from running. I'd recommend, just to make sure, before taking everything apart....
