Hello, I ordered a trig ty 91 radio and a tt22 transponder to modernize my plane, and I’ m wondering what is the most suitable location to install the boxes, behind the dashboard, on in the rear compartment ?

I would suggest as close to the antennas as possible. I have done that in my Hummelbird (no other place was physically possible), and they work absolutely fantastic - love them.
cheers,
Pete

Hello Emmanuel
Look attached photos. Two dipole antennas inside the fuselage, very short
coax cable the the TRIGs, works perfect.
Best regards, Ruedi HB-YJF

Trig radio box in panel aerial in rear fuselage.
Trig transponder box in panel aerial right at back of fuselage.
Both work well with long cable runs

I have the Trig Transponder box mounted in the tunnel, located right between the seats, which works flawlessly.
However this is probably only feasible in the Trigear, where you have a lot of spare room due to the lack of the retracted wheel in the Mono.

Pete,
We mounted Creighton Smith’s in the panel on the curved side and used the existing coax. Less wiring changes.
Works fine.
Don’t ask about the ADS-B upgrade. You have to go back to the 90’s for the CPU flash program for an OKI Data flash program and it is reluctant to work on the latest Windows/mac systems. It took 3 hours to get the upgrade to take. Everyone fears the blank screen. That’s my only complaint about Trig. Otherwise a great piece of equipment.

Hi Bud,
I was throwing my opinion in on the box location (I have them in my HB
LOL about the software update.... I lost 1 month on my HB because my local trig dealer couldnt update my transponder for adsb and had to send it to Kansas anyway (guess he's not the only one). Kansas has it sorted - quick turn around
I am very happy that Trig has committed to add a widget between the box and the antenna (simple splitter?) to accomodate Canada's space-based ADSB and still be USA compliant, without replacing any hardware. I love Trig. Bullet proof kit, even in my torture-testing HummelBird.
Cheers,
Pete

Yep,
If my son wasn't a programmer, I would have sent it to Trig also. My observation was he got the update to take by completely wiping while, disconnected, then flashing the chip, and only then would it accept the upgrade.
I gave up after a couple hours, he got it done in an hour.
Good equipment, and I agree the ADS-B hardware was very reasonable.
Best Regards,
Bud Yerly
