My last flight in N77EU was an aborted takeoff when RPM would not get over
4800. Returning to the hanger and chocking the wheel I got 5100 RPM and smelled oil smoke on shut down so I removed the cowl to find upper right stud
on #2 cylinder had snapped off and was laying on top of the ignition wire so
I’m sure it failed on the ground because it surely would have been lost had it happened in the air.

750 hours on motor, looks like metal fatigue. The Rotax replacement stud is cad plated metric allthread and is much longer than what is stated in parts catalog.

The replacement looks like something you'd buy from a hardware shop. Its horrible. Sure its a Rotax part?

Ordered from LEAF, consider them honest, supposed to be Rotax, looks to be hardware store except for the plating on the ends. Perhaps Rotax is having problems with hardened studs failing and new replacements are different.
